10 Things about Ms. Cruz
1. My last name is "Cruz" and is pronounced just like "Cruise". Unfortunately, I am not related to Tom Cruise
2. I was a lifeguard and swimming instructor. Teaching kids how to swim inspired me to become a teacher.
3. I have two degrees from UBC (Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish, Bachelor of Education) and I am currently working on my third degree which is a Master of Education at UBC with a certificate for Educational Leadership.
4. I was part of the Presidential Advisory Committee for the New Dean of Education at UBC. I represented the interests of over 700 soon-to-be teachers.
5. I enjoyed visiting Cuba, Spain and Puerto Rico. I would like to go to a few more and pick up a Starbucks mug from each country.
6. My Starbucks usual is a tall, 1/4 water, 3/4 1% milk, 4 pump vanilla earl grey tea misto!
7. I'm a car enthusiast. Talk to me about the specs of your dream car! This is how students try to distract me.
8. I used to drive a Smart Car which was surprisingly roomy. I hauled the soccer equipment in that car while I was co-coaching the soccer team at DSS.
9. My brother will be graduating from high school in June and we are absolutely thrilled!
